February is Children's Dental Health Month!
Give Kids a Smile is a charitable outreach program that provides free dental care to underserved children (typically ages 3-18). Dental clinics throughout the state volunteer to provide these services during Children’s Dental Health Month with events taking place this year on Friday, Feb. 7 and Saturday, Feb. 8.

Congratulations to Marlie Beneke and Micah Fenney! They have been chosen as Central High School's nominees for the Minnesota State High School League's ExCel Award. Each year they ask member schools to nominate one junior male and one junior female who have excelled in the classroom, while at the same time have participated in a League-sponsored athletic program and a League-sponsored fine arts/activity. CHS chooses our nominees based on a point system of their involvement in the above programs .

Congratulations to our very own Mason Guentzel! Mason's curling team proudly represented Minnesota at the U18 Nationals in Lafayette, Colorado. The team went undefeated in six pool games, earning the #1 seed for the finals. After an impressive semifinal victory, they advanced to the championship game, where Mason and his team clinched the title of U18 National Champions and took home gold medals!
As the team's skip, Mason played a pivotal role in leading his team to this incredible achievement. Way to go, Mason! We're so proud of you!

The Central Difference is easy to see in our kindergarten classrooms! Students recently had a blast participating in a wedding for the letters Q and U. They learned a lot about letters, dressed to impress, enjoyed music by Principal Larson and Mrs. Solberg and then had a cake to celebrate!

The Airplane Toss is here! Come cheer on the Central Raiders tonight as they host the GSL Panthers in a Boys and Girls Double Header! Games begin at 4:00, 5:30, and 7:00 PM. Come on out and support the Raiders!

Our staff has been secretly participating in their own “underground” dress-up days. These days have been popping up randomly throughout the year and include “Plaid Shirt Day”, “Silly Socks and Sandals Day”, “Monochrome Day” and “Anything but a Cup Day”. They’ve enjoyed bringing a little extra fun to the school day and seeing how many students catch on. Don’t worry Raiders, there are more dress-up days on the way! Keep an eye on our staff and see if you can spot the next surprise theme.

Save the date: Family Literacy Night at Central Elementary is coming up on Thursday, Jan. 23 from 6-7 p.m.
Students will make crafts, play BINGO, eat a snack- and each child will go home with a new book! Families should plan to start in the atrium. It's always a great time, so don't miss it!

Kindergarten at Central is a sweet time! Students in Kindergarten recently had a lot of fun with around the theme of Gingerbread. They read a fun story about gingerbread men, decorated houses, and finished using manipulatives to design a house for a gingerbread man. They also were treated to a gingerbread cookie!

Now this is pretty awesome! Students in 3rd grade recently toured U.S. Bank Stadium and participated in a variety of different STEM activities. They learned about different STEM jobs that work with professional football and got to try different things. Highlights included visiting the locker room, playing on the field, creating football rockets, and using headsets to communicate plays. What a great day!

Congratulations to Lacey and Michael who were chosen as Central High School's nominees for the Minnesota State High School League's Triple A Award! Learn more about the award: https://www.isd108.org/article/1955257

We are less than a month away from Kindergarten Registration Night! We can’t wait to show the Central Difference to families interested in kicking off their child’s education in our district. Spread the word and we will see future kindergarten families on Thursday, Feb 6!

Thank you to everyone who participated in the Seasons of Giving initiative before the holidays!
We were able to help 17 families, which includes 49 kids, while successfully filling 145 tags. This would not have been possible without the incredible contributions from staff, school groups, community members, and local businesses so thank you for supporting the Central Community!
Thank you to everyone who participated and made this initiative so meaningful. Your kindness has made a real difference in the lives of many families this holiday season!

Kindergarten at Central Elementary received a grant from the Cologne Fire Department to purchase fidgets for students to use during reading time.
Fidget toys can offer several benefits, including improved focus and concentration, stress reduction, sensory stimulation, self-regulation, better emotional control, and can be particularly helpful for individuals with ADHD, anxiety, or sensory processing difficulties by providing a discreet outlet for excess energy while staying engaged in a task;. They can also aid in fine motor skill development and provide a calming mechanism when feeling overwhelmed and are a great addition to the classroom.
Thank you Cologne Fire Department!
