Winter has arrived it seems. That may have been one of the shortest falls I can remember. I just chalk it up to 2020!
The weather actually is the reason for my message today as I have a bit of an unusual request. On Friday, our football team is supposed to host a game at Central High School. As I am writing this, there is about 4 inches of heavy snow on the varsity field and the turf is not yet frozen.
This combination of circumstances makes it so we can not bring snow removal equipment onto the field without doing thousands of dollars of damage to the turf. We have attempted to use snow blowers, it just pushes the snow.
It is supposed to rain tomorrow and we hope it melts all the snow. If it doesn’t, I am asking any available citizen with a shovel and/or wheelbarrow to come to Braun Field at 5pm on Thursday, October 22 to assist in removing the snow by hand.
We will be monitoring the situation and give an update at 4pm tomorrow on our Facebook page. If all goes well, we will be able to host the game at Central (Plan A).
Central does have a back-up plan for the game. Jordan Public Schools has graciously offered to host our game at their site. They have artificial turf and are able to remove the snow. If our field is not in the condition to play or if we are unable to remove the snow, we will host our game at Jordan on Saturday time TBD (Plan B).
RESCHEDULED VOLLEYBALL GAMES:
9-12 volleyball games with LeSuer have been moved to Saturday. 10/24/20.

-Fans will park on the North side of the school.
-Visiting fans will enter Door #15 and sit in designated rows on the East side of the gym.

- Please maintain 6 ft. social distance unless from same household
- We ask that all fans exit the building when their players' match is over to accommodate capacity limits for the next group of fans.

As we continue to monitor the potential rainy weather for this upcoming Thursday evening, we wanted to let you know that Central High School's Coronation has been postponed to Monday, October 26, 2020 at 7:00 PM on the football field.
This is a ticketed event for our students who wish to go.
**STUDENTS ** PLEASE do NOT throw or loose the coronation tickets you got this week as these are VALID and WILL get you into coronation regardless of date changes.
We will be live streaming the coronation ceremony for those who wish to watch at home.
Central's 2020 Homecoming Court will be recognized during the home football game on Friday, October 23rd during halftime.

With winter weather sneaking up on us, there have been a number of questions regarding winter clothing requirements when out at recess. With safety in mind, below are the requirements as communicated to the students, teachers, and recess supervisors:
~All students should be wearing jackets, hats, and gloves in cold weather.
~We will be outside when the temperature and wind chill are above zero degrees.
~Kindergarten through second grade students will need snow pants and boots when there is snow on the ground.
~Students in third through fifth grade need to wear boots.
For these grade levels, we will not require snow pants, although we still strongly suggest them. Students who are not properly dressed may be sent inside to get jackets, hats, and gloves.
If you are having financial difficulties and providing winter clothing is not possible, please contact the elementary office and we will help you find available resources.
