SpEd

Central Public Schools offers special education services to students who meet Minnesota State Criteria and show a need for specialized instruction in the following areas: academic, social/ emotional/behavioral support, developmental/cognitive support, speech and language, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and/or deaf and hard of hearing.  Did you know we also offer support for families of children from birth until the age of three in their natural setting - at home?

Our district has special education teachers who provide services to our students; including two early childhood special education teachers, three elementary teachers, four teachers at the middle and high school level, and two speech language pathologists.  We also have staff from Southwest Metro Intermediate District who provide occupational therapy, physical therapy, and deaf and hard of hearing services.  We are able to offer programming for our students here at Central but we can access programs at other schools through the Southwest Metro Intermediate District for students needing a higher level of support.

We want to thank you for your support in passing the referendum!  As parents, you are an essential component of our school and we are privileged to educate your children.  As we move forward with planning for our new learning spaces, there will be opportunities to be involved.  We will be seeking parent input as we update, renovate, and innovate our buildings to support students receiving special education services.

In the spring, I will be sending an email to make parents aware of our first discussion session.  This communication will be sent to all families who have children with an Individualized Education Program or Individual Family Service Plan.

With thanks and appreciation,
