We all know that summer is a time of fun and relaxation for students. However, for two weeks in June and another two weeks in July, around 175 students walked back through the doors at Central Elementary for the Making Connections Summer School program.
Each day started with students utilizing the playgrounds and green space before walking in and enjoying a breakfast if they desired. From there, students who just completed grades K-5 would work through various reading, math, writing, and social emotional learning activities.
Thanks to a partnership with the Carver County Norwood Young America Library, each week various groups of students would have a chance to head there and participate in activities such making clouds and robotics, or simply learning what the library has to offer.
Students also had a chance to be creative within our STEAM room once a week. Before heading home, students also had a chance to receive lunch, ensuring that they were going to head home with a full stomach. A great four weeks with WONDERFUL students here at Central Elementary!
