It's Central It's Essential! Central Public Schools Referendum 2019

Dear Central Public Schools Community Members:

I welcome this opportunity to introduce myself as the new Superintendent of Central Public Schools. I am originally from nearby Hutchinson, and I have a lot of family in this part of the state. It is exciting to be among people I feel I already know!

With the new school year off to a positive start, there are a number of initiatives that we will be undertaking in order to improve our schools. The first step is to stabilize our budget. We aim to do that by holding a referendum Nov. 5 to establish an operating levy and a technology levy.

Our referendum theme is: “It's Central, It's Essential.” The word "essential" could be looked at by some as an opinion that overstates the need for new revenue for our community schools. However, having now spent three months conducting an in-depth review of the district's finances - with the assistance of Baird, our financial advisor - I can say, unequivocally, that this referendum is essential.

Because strong schools equal strong communities in so many ways, I encourage all community residents to study additional information and details as they are added to this website and to go to the polls on November 5 as informed voters. If you have questions or comments, I welcome your calls or emails at 952-467-7001 or tschochenmaier@central.k12.mn.us.

Sincerely,

Timothy Schochenmaier

Superintendent of Schools
