covid 19 update

Good Morning Central Families,

I am writing today to provide you with a COVID-19 update since returning to school from
spring break. Since our return we have had a total of 15 positive cases which have
resulted in quite a few students needing to be put in quarantine. Generally this amount
of cases is higher than we have seen in the past, but we are monitoring it closely and
working with the families who are affected.

The best thing any family can do to help right now is to keep children out of
school if anyone in the home is ill or getting tested. I know this is tough, I know this
is inconvenient. But in the grand scheme of things, this single act will reduce the
amount of quarantined students dramatically. We are doing a 14-day quarantine in
Carver County (all schools). In several cases we have seen our own students test
positive on day 12 or 13. A 14 day quarantine for close contacts of positive cases and
consistent, proper mask wearing has reduced the overall number of students we’ve
needed to quarantine.

There are several milestone events coming up in the next month which vary depending
on your child’s age (prom, AAA, track and field day, Mental Health Day, and various
graduations). We have been planning and problem solving contingencies so these
events can happen for all our students, maybe not exactly the same, but as close to
typical as possible.

Please help to ensure as many students can participate in these fun end-of-year
activities by monitoring your own family.

Thank you,
Tim Schochenmaier
Superintendent
